Spay And Neuter Assistance Program

Be sure to check our events listing for any upcoming Spay/Neuter program events.

The SNAP (Spay and Neuter Assistance Program) is a special program designed to help families who could not otherwise afford to have their animals sterilized.  The SNAP also helps caretakers of feral cat colonies sterilize the animals in those colonies.  The SNAP is not a general low-cost spay/neuter program.  It is designed to help only people who have a demonstrated need, or those who are actively caring for feral cats.

This program is funded through direct donations and grants and therefore availability is subject to funding.

NOTE: We do not currently have any grant money available, so the prices for the individual clinics listed below are in effect. We are unable to offer discounts below these prices on a general basis. Some subsidies may be available on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of P.A.W.S. and based on the availability of funds.

P.A.W.S. works with two low-cost, high-quality clinics that specialize in spaying and neutering.

Feral Cats

P.A.W.S. offers $25 spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats. To qualify you must assist in trapping the cats (we have a few traps we can loan), be willing to return the cat to the place you trapped it and provide on-going care (food, water and shelter). WE DO NOT offer relocation services for feral cats and we do not have the resources to do all the trapping ourselves. For us to help you, you must be willing to assist in the process.

NOTE: Do not remove trapped cats from live traps. This is dangerous to you, our volunteers and the cat. The clinics also require feral cats to arrive in live traps. Simply move the cat to a sheltered area, out of the elements, and cover with a sheet or blanket. Do not attempt to open the trap or you will likely lose the cat. Contact P.A.W.S. for assistance if you have trapped a cat.

Transport Assistance

Our volunteers periodically offer transport services to drive your animals to the clinics. These services are dependent on the availability of our volunteers, and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. If you drive your animal to a clinic yourself, you are likely to get an appointment sooner than if we provide transportation.

To obtain assistance transporting your animal to the clinic, please email P.A.W.S at info@pawsofmichigan.com with the following information, and put "SNAP Request - <YOUR LAST NAME>" in the subject line. If the request is for feral cats, please ALSO include "- for FERAL CAT in the subject line. A volunteer will contact you within 3 days about your request.

Financial Assistance

We do not currently have any grant money available, so the prices for the individual clinics listed above are in effect. We are unable to offer discounts below these prices on a general basis.

Some subsidies may be available on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of P.A.W.S. and based on the availability of funds. If you cannot afford the prices offered by the clinics, please fill out the above in "Transport Assistance" and include information on why you need additional financial assistance, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

To Donate

The SNAP is funded through directed donations and grants. If you would like to make a contribution to the SNAP, please send your tax-deductible donation to P.A.W.S. of Michigan, P.O. Box 2184, Riverview, MI 48193. You can also donate through PayPal by clicking on the Donate link on the left. Please indicate that you want your donation used for the SNAP.
