Poor little Peanut was brought to the pound with a broken leg. While one of our volunteers was at the pound she was told that this sweet little dog had a broken leg, and no way could she allow him to suffer there. She immediately started to make arrangements to get him to the vet and into foster care.

He was taken to one of our local vets and they suggested he go to a specialist, she felt that this was not a new injury . Peanut went to MVS a few hours later. After reviewing the x-ray the specialist agreed with the first vet that the break has started to heal and badly. It is broken at the end of the thigh bone in the knee joint. The knee cap has already moved off and the part of the joint that is broken has started to bend back. Peanut will have pins put in a criss cross position through the upper knee joint. The recovery time will be at least eight weeks. His surgery is estimated between $3,500.

Peanut had his surgery on Wednesday Aug 6th and is recovering nicely. He will see the surgeon in two weeks and then 4 weeks from his surgery Peanut will have his leg x-rayed.
